Main and go south on the frontage road to Hwy 90. Turn right on O\u2019Meara<br \/>Drive. Note that O\u2019Meara Drive west of Avondale House will be closed to traffic from the south-<br \/>bound lane of Stella Link around 7:00AM.<br \/>I<strong>f driving north on Hwy 90,<\/strong> exit at Belford and do a U-Turn onto the frontage road, then turn rt<br \/>on O\u2019Meara Dr<\/p>\n<p>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/vwzdf0qjypr.c.updraftclone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Avondale-map-overview2-tny.jpg\" alt=\"Avondale directions\" width=\"397\" height=\"323\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/vwzdf0qjypr.c.updraftclone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/OVERFLOW-PARKING-MAP-TNY.jpg\" alt=\"overflow parking map\" width=\"376\" height=\"246\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Parking:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On race day, access to O\u2019Meara Dr. from the south-bound lane of Stella Link will<br \/>be closed to traffic without a permit at 7:30AM. Ice Palace Dr. that connects<br \/>Belfort and O\u2019Meara will also be closed at 7:30AM.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>There is limited parking at Avondale House lot and along O\u2019Meara Dr. close to<br \/>the Hwy 90 frontage road. There is no parking on the portion of O\u2019Meara Dr.<br \/>that is part of the race course.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Carpooling and ride sharing is encouraged.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Once close parking is full, traffic will be redirected to the overflow parking lot.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Overflow parking has been arranged at the <strong>Houston Chinese Church,<\/strong> 10305 S Main St,<br \/>Houston, TX 77025 (off of W. Belfort and 90). This is a short 3 block walk from Avondale<br \/>(Cross at underpass of Hwy 90 and walk on sidewalk of frontage road to O\u2019Meara &#8211; see<br \/>map). Additional parking may be available on neighboring streets. Please respect all &#8220;No<br \/>Parking&#8221; zones.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>NOTE: If you are unable to park on O\u2019Meara and are redirected to the Hwy<\/strong><\/em><br \/><em><strong>90 frontage road, you will have to proceed to exit at Willowbend and do a U-<\/strong><\/em><br \/><em><strong>turn to return to overflow parking lot on Belfort.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>For the safety of our participants, only official race vehicles (permit required) will be<br \/>allowed to enter O\u2019Meara Dr. from Stella Link after 7:30 am, and no vehicles will be<br \/>allowed in or out of this area after 8:00 am and until all runners are off the course and<br \/>the roads are reopened by security and race officials.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vwzdf0qjypr.c.updraftclone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Avondale-race-day-details-tny.jpg\" alt=\"course details\" width=\"1958\" height=\"666\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><u>Course<\/u><\/h3>\n<p>COURSE: USATF Certified 5K (TX24011JH) course is fast and flat and includes 2 loops on Stella Link.<br \/>The course starts and ends on O\u2019Meara Dr. in front of Avondale House.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vwzdf0qjypr.c.updraftclone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Alexs-5k-Avondale-5k-course.png\" alt=\"Course map\" width=\"720\" height=\"541\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Water will be provided along the course, as well as at the start and finish areas.<\/p>\n<h3><u>Race Awards<\/u><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Awards will be presented to the Overall Male &amp; Female and 1st Place Masters Male &amp; Female.\u00a0 <strong>In addition to a custom made award tile, each winner will receive $100 CASH!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Age Division prizes will be awarded to 1st through 3rd place male &amp; female finishers in the following categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and Older.<\/li>\n<li>Awards will also be given to top handcycle and pushrim finishers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>All awards based on chip time<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Alex&#8217;s 5K is the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Texas State 5K Championship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Road Runners Club of America (RRCA)<\/strong> awards championship events through a competitive bidding process to shine a spotlight on well-run events and to award top performing runners in the open, masters (40+), grand masters (50+), and senior grand masters (60+), and (special for our race) ultra grand masters (70+) categories for both men and women. We will have beverages, including <strong>Saint Arnold\u2019s<\/strong> beer.
