Race Day Schedule
- 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM: Race Day Registration/Packet Pickup
- 8:00 AM: Kids’ K Start
- 8:25 AM: Handcycle/Pushrim 5K Start
- 8:30 AM: Run/Walk Race Start.
- 8:45 AM: Post Race Party to follow the race.
For the safety of the runners, no pets please.
Location & Parking Directions
Location: Avondale House. 3737 O’Meara Dr., Houston, TX 77025
Avondale House is located on O’Meara Dr. just off of Alt Hwy 90 frontage road and the South
Loop (I610).
From I610, exit to S. Main and go south on the frontage road to Hwy 90. Turn right on O’Meara
Drive. Note that O’Meara Drive west of Avondale House will be closed to traffic from the south-
bound lane of Stella Link around 7:00AM.
If driving north on Hwy 90, exit at Belford and do a U-Turn onto the frontage road, then turn rt
on O’Meara Dr
.
Parking:
- On race day, access to O’Meara Dr. from the south-bound lane of Stella Link will
be closed to traffic without a permit at 7:30AM. Ice Palace Dr. that connects
Belfort and O’Meara will also be closed at 7:30AM. - There is limited parking at Avondale House lot and along O’Meara Dr. close to
the Hwy 90 frontage road. There is no parking on the portion of O’Meara Dr.
that is part of the race course. - Carpooling and ride sharing is encouraged.
- Once close parking is full, traffic will be redirected to the overflow parking lot.
- Overflow parking has been arranged at the Houston Chinese Church, 10305 S Main St,
Houston, TX 77025 (off of W. Belfort and 90). This is a short 3 block walk from Avondale
(Cross at underpass of Hwy 90 and walk on sidewalk of frontage road to O’Meara – see
map). Additional parking may be available on neighboring streets. Please respect all “No
Parking” zones. - NOTE: If you are unable to park on O’Meara and are redirected to the Hwy
90 frontage road, you will have to proceed to exit at Willowbend and do a U-
turn to return to overflow parking lot on Belfort. - For the safety of our participants, only official race vehicles (permit required) will be
allowed to enter O’Meara Dr. from Stella Link after 7:30 am, and no vehicles will be
allowed in or out of this area after 8:00 am and until all runners are off the course and
the roads are reopened by security and race officials. 
Course
COURSE: USATF Certified 5K (TX24011JH) course is fast and flat and includes 2 loops on Stella Link.
The course starts and ends on O’Meara Dr. in front of Avondale House.
Water will be provided along the course, as well as at the start and finish areas.
Race Awards
- Awards will be presented to the Overall Male & Female and 1st Place Masters Male & Female. In addition to a custom made award tile, each winner will receive $100 CASH!
- Age Division prizes will be awarded to 1st through 3rd place male & female finishers in the following categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and Older.
- Awards will also be given to top handcycle and pushrim finishers.

Alex’s 5K is the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Texas State 5K Championship
The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) awards championship events through a competitive bidding process to shine a spotlight on well-run events and to award top performing runners in the open, masters (40+), grand masters (50+), and senior grand masters (60+), and (special for our race) ultra grand masters (70+) categories for both men and women. (These awards are given in addition to the race awards, so double-dipping allowed!)

Post Race Party
We will have food, including Taco Cabana breakfast tacos, bagels, fruit (and cupcakes for the kids). We will have beverages, including Saint Arnold’s beer. Kids’ K participants will each receive a special goody bag and there will be kids activities.
